Every child deserves to be understood, supported, and given the opportunity to dream. On World Cerebral Palsy Day, 6 October, we stand alongside children and families living with cerebral palsy and reaffirm our commitment to building a more inclusive society.
At Children in India, we work every day with children who have cerebral palsy. Through this work, we witness their courage, joy, determination, and incredible potential. Their journey reminds us that what children need most is not pity, but understanding, early support, opportunities, and inclusion.
Cerebral palsy should never be seen as a limit to what a child can achieve. With the right combination of therapy, education, family support, encouragement, and an inclusive environment, children can continue to learn, grow, participate, and pursue their aspirations.
Early support can play an important role in helping children develop their abilities and become more independent. Just as importantly, creating inclusive spaces allows every child to participate and be valued for who they are and what they can contribute.
1. Spread awareness
Help others understand cerebral palsy and challenge misconceptions surrounding disability.
2. Support inclusion
Create schools, communities, and environments where every child can participate, learn, and belong.
3. See ability before disability
Look beyond a diagnosis and recognize the individual strengths, dreams, and potential of every child.
This 6th of October, let us move beyond awareness towards acceptance, inclusion, and meaningful action.
Every child has abilities. Every child has dreams. Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.
