
Assistive Devices Distribution Programme at CRC Davangere Supports Mobility and Independence for Persons with Disabilities

International Women’s Day was celebrated with a spirit of empowerment, inclusion, and community service at CRC Davangere through a special Assistive Devices Distribution Programme. The initiative was organised under the administrative control of NIEPID, DEPwD, MSJ&E, Government of India, and aimed at supporting persons with disabilities by enhancing their mobility and independence. Children in India was honoured to be part of this meaningful programme dedicated to strengthening inclusive support systems.
The programme began with a warm welcome address by Shri Maruthi Krishna Goud K, Director I/C, CRC Davangere, who highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting accessibility and empowerment. The event was further enriched by inspiring messages from distinguished guests, including Smt. Leelavathi, President of Sanjeevini College of Nursing; Ms. Anitha Patil, President of Santwana Women’s Helpline Centre, Harihara; and Ms. Vijayalakshmi from Manasa Sadana Vikala Chetana Seva Trust. Their words reflected the shared commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities and promoting gender equality.
An overview of the programme was presented by Ms. Nikitha N. M., Caregiver from the CDEIC Department, along with Ms. Sowmya, Master Trainer at CRC Davangere, who highlighted the objectives and impact of the initiative. With the support of Shri Adarsh Singh, Prosthetist and Orthotist from PMDK, assistive devices were distributed to 250 beneficiaries, helping improve their mobility and quality of life.
The event was thoughtfully coordinated by Ms. Nikitha, Ms. Sowmya, Ms. Vidya B, and Ms. Sharadha, ensuring the smooth execution of the programme. The event was gracefully anchored by Ms. Nikitha and Ms. Sharadha, Nurse at CRC Davangere, guiding participants through the day’s activities.
The celebration concluded with vibrant cultural performances, creating a joyful and memorable experience for everyone present. The event not only marked International Women’s Day but also reinforced the importance of empowerment, accessibility, and community collaboration.
