True Independence Begins When Every Child Has the Right to Learn, Belong, and Thrive

India’s Independence Day is a celebration of freedom, unity, and the aspirations of a nation. For Children in India, it is also a reminder that the true spirit of independence lies in creating a society where every child—regardless of ability—has equal opportunities to learn, grow, participate, and dream.
On the occasion of Independence Day, our team had the privilege of joining the 80th Independence Day celebration at the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Davangere. The event brought together staff members, students, beneficiaries, and participants in a celebration filled with patriotism, unity, and national pride.
The celebration was more than a commemoration of India’s independence. It reflected the values of equality, participation, and belonging that are essential to building an inclusive society. The presence and participation of children with disabilities highlighted the importance of ensuring that every child has the opportunity to be an active part of the nation’s journey.
At Children in India, we believe that true independence means leaving no child behind. Children with disabilities deserve access to quality education, opportunities to participate equally, and an environment where their abilities are recognized and nurtured.
Through our efforts to support the inclusion of children with disabilities in the mainstream education system, we strive to create pathways that empower children to learn with confidence, participate without barriers, and build brighter futures.
An independent India is not simply a nation free from external rule—it is a nation where every child has the freedom to learn, the freedom to belong, and the freedom to dream.
As we celebrate the spirit of independence, let us continue working together to build an India where inclusion is not an option, but a right; where diversity is celebrated; and where every child has an equal opportunity to thrive.
🇮🇳 Happy Independence Day!
Together, let’s build an inclusive and empowered India—one where every child can learn, belong, and thrive.
