Online Training conducted by Children in India for DEIC functionaries and Medical Practitioners in collaboration with Child Development Centre, Thiruvananthapuram- 5th to 27th June

Children in India Trust in partnership with the NHM, The Government of J&K, and the Child Development Centre, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala successfully concluded the 10-day online training session on 27th June 2023. The eminent faculty of CDC led under the leadership of Dr. Deepa Bhaskaran, the Director in Charge helped in streamlining various aspects related to the detection, intervention, and management of Autism. The 10-day session which started on 5th June, was conducted on the following topics-

  • Introduction & Breaking the news
  • Screening tools- Concern 9 & M-CHAT
  • Screening tool- Trivandrum Autism Behaviour Checklist (TABC)
  • Diagnostic Tool- Indian Scale for Assessment of Autism (ISSA)
  • Diagnostic Tool-INCLEN Diagnostic Tool for Autism Spectrum Disorder (INDT-ASD)
  • DSM 5 criteria for ASD
  • Short sensory profile- ASD management
  • Communication intervention
  • Medical Management of ASD and its comorbidities
  • Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

The sessions were attended by a consortium of participants from various institutions who asked pertinent questions and helped the panel synergize their thoughts in advocating an empathetic pathway of care for medical practitioners and DEIC functionaries toward children with Autism. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Ashu Jamwal, Professor of Pediatrics, Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu who thanked all the participants and the CDC faculty for their proactive participation and participation towards the online sessions. State Program Coordinator, Jammu Ms. Vidushi Sharma recorded the successful completion of the online training Program.

The Hands-on training workshop was held on 7 & 8 July 2023 at SMGS Hospital, Shalamar Jammu.
